The state of the art in databases has changed quite a bit. But it has stayed with relation databases and the trend to object oriented databases seems very slow. In our opinion, we believe that object oriented databases will have a slight share of the market, and the current market dominators will continue in thier role.

TP Monitors

Now that you've got a database, you want to pump as much information through it as possible. How do you do this? One way is to use TP Monitors. This technology is a middle tier specific and concentrates on the scalability of transactions.

Microsoft's offering in the Message Queue arena. The middle tier strategy seems to be really strong for NT 2000, not so hot for NT 4 though.
