The state of the art in databases has changed
quite a bit. But it has stayed with relation databases and the trend to
object oriented databases seems very slow. In our opinion, we believe
that object oriented databases will have a slight share of the market,
and the current market dominators will continue in thier role.

recommend "An Introduction to Database Systems" by C. J. Date
to find out more about why databases work.
